Day 5: The Outside Card

Coming here was foolish. Then again you do look like a bit of a fool.
Searching for knowledge in a ravine full of bandits. Yes, very foolish.
But appropriate. You seek art and so this is truly the only place to go. Art is as impartial to danger as it is to life and death, even if it is obsessed with them.
Come closer, sit by the oven so I can see you in the light. You have nothing to fear from me. But you should be afraid, I think.
The Outside Card
A New Viewpoint, Truth Unveiled, Liminal Spaces, The Internal Discovers the External, Terrible Knowledge, Incomprehensible Revelations, Interconnections
You once thought you resided in a cold and inattentive universe where your existence and actions had little longterm effects.
Now the truth rises on the horizon with the terrible realization that the universe may be cold but it is anything but inattentive. It sees you, just as you are now able to see the sheer magnitude of reality - your full reality.
Every moment pales in comparison to what you can see now. Dim colors and hoarse voices whispering nonsense are now vibrant, loud, and too coherent. And who will believe you? Now you are too vibrant and loud to be coherent.
This card is as close to the Truth as the Moon can bless or burden us with. There is no transformation - the world has always been this way.
Hm, yes you have every reason to be afraid.
Where you go next I wouldn't want to step foot in.
Any good Moon Reader that relies on these cards instead of the real thing will lie to your face,
but not me. You know the Outer Placements, foolish one? And how some never return?
These cards aren't some gift. The Scavenger was right, they're a memory. A plea for forgiveness for what our ancestors did to this world. Our desecration of the land and the moon herself did not go unnoticed. The betrayal of life and what is real did not go unnoticed. The beings from those places flung these cards our way and we desperately tried to understand the message to save ourselves. That began in this very ravine. The remaining creatives tried first- no scientists, no warriors, no shiny orators...no, the few remaining creators cobbled meanings before they faded away like dust in a storm.
And here we are. Me sitting here, and you sitting there - about to fade away yourself.
Goodbye, curious one. It's unlikely we'll meet again.
